Entering the resort's spa had been like stepping into another world.

Again she'd experienced the theme of opulence and marble, one of Roman decadence. Kate had been ushered into a private room and given a light terry robe. She'd undressed, donned the robe, and then been taken to meet her masseur, Roberto.

Now, just about finished with the massage, she lay face down on the massage table, her buttocks covered with a towel, every muscle in her body totally relaxed.

Roberto had been an absolute dream. The man's hands had worked magic and he'd had a great sense of humor as well. For the first time since she'd seen Jack, Kate could honestly say she felt totally relaxed.

Things were looking up, absolutely. Patti was happy and that was all that really mattered. And her traitorous, touch-starved body had finally settled down. If it could talk, it would probably be saying, I like, I like, 1 like, yeah, yeah, yeah...

Kate turned her head and placed it in the cutout portion of the table. It had been formulated that way so she could lie with her head straight down, her neck straight. She could see through to the floor beneath her. But now, with her eyes closed and every muscle in her body totally relaxed, Kate just felt great.

She was in a fabulous mood. Nothing could disturb her now.
